Before You Came

Before you came

Everything was dark

The fire was not lit

My life had no spark

Before you came

The future seemed bleak

A life with no direction

And a motivation too weak

Before you came

I feared what was next

What would I do with my life?

My existence was but a speck

Before you came

Going to school was a bore

A day-to-day task

I couldn’t help but want more

But then you came

And you taught me there IS more

I learned something new each day

My path was changed, that was for sure

But then you came

And you lit the fire

Buried deep within

I realized my hopes and desires

But then you came

And brought forth the light

For once in my life

My future seemed bright
