You are more than what I was able to be

You are more than what they yell at you as you walk

Their words hurt but they are all talk

Do not run for they will follow

Walk slowly and try to swallow

the thoughts that make you cry

For if they know you are upset

They will never say goodbye

But don’t give up just yet

You are more than the lyrics that fill your head

or the words that you read

Trust me you are not alone

If only I had known

Before I lost who I was

in all of my flaws

that make me human

I let them get to me

But I will not run and flee

because you deserve to know

You still have time to grow

You are more than what I was able to be

So lift your head darling because you can be free

I believe in you because you are more

and it is so hard to ignore

how wrong they were about you
