You are in danger of becoming a stranger

The thing about us is that we were supposed to last forever

You know, because we had the BFF necklaces, the bracelets, the whole nine yards

I knew you inside & out

You knew me like the back of your hand

All those sleepovers & movies & late night GIRL talks we had

So.

When did things begin to change?

I guess it started when that guy, what was his name, Jack? Jeb? No wait.

Jayden.

Yeah, that's when you never had time for me any more. You dedicated every second of your life to trying to get his attention.

And what do you know, you got it.

Only, he asked you, about me.

I realize why you may have been angry. But, I turned him down, you were my friend.  Friends don't date friends' crushes.

So.

Why you never speak to me is beyond me. Why you turn the cold shoulder when I see you in the hall escapes me.

I don't know you any more, darling.

I guess at five years old we were too naiive to realize what we had may be temporary.

It must have been.

Because you're a stranger.
