YOU AND ONLY YOU
Who are you?
Who are you really?
Are you your voice or the way or the way you talk?
Where you’re from or the way you walk?
The clothes you wear, no it doesn’t make sense,
How you’re judged for things that don’t represent,
Who you really are and why you matter,
Or the reason you live and the wisdom you scatter,
To those you love and those you don’t know,
In order to make a difference in the world before you go,
And join the angels and loved ones lost.
Who you are is up to you,
And are not only the things you do,
But how you treat others and lend a helping hand,
To those who can and those who can’t,
Make it your mission,
It’s not your obligation,
But your need to show who you are;
A helper, lover, friend, or foe,
A teacher,
Preacher,
No one may know,
But you,
So be the best you, you can be.
Whether you are short or tall,
Big or small,
Smart or dumb,
Boring or fun,
Mean or kind,
Seeing or blind,
Straight or gay,
Who can say?
That doesn’t define you,
It just happens to be true.
What tells who you are,
Is just you being you.
