Write the pain away

We push ourselves

To become something

Instead of nothing

To be someone we want

Rather than who we are

We are taught

To open our hearts

Even when it's clear

We cannot

We want to have control

But the fear alone

Is powerful enough

To stop us

We say we are willing

To do almost anything

anything for the truth.

We know the pain

Better than we know

The answers

To all the questions

We dream

A different world

For you and me

When we know

It's just make believe

We hold on

To things we should let go

But even we know

We're running out

Running out of time
