Would You See
If I just stood there,
Would you see me
In all my brokenness and beauty?
Would you see
My struggles and troubles
And a past that's stamped with a seal of pain?
Would you see
My wishes and dreams
And my hopes for a carefree future?
Would you see
The invisible teardrop rolling down my face
That holds my doubts and insecurities?
Or
Would you see
Only the plain features of my face
The traditional blue eyes
And lips so red and full
They must be begging for a kiss.
The makeup under my eyes
Thought only to attract.
Would you see
Straight hair framing my face
Like a picture for you mantel.
Would you see
Who I really am?
Or
Would you see
Only what you wanted to see?
