That Worm

I am the worm,

who was told by all the caterpillars,

to "just believe in myself."

I am the worm,

who was left by all the caterpillars,

when they spun their cocoons.

I am the worm,

who is mocked by all the butterflies,

caterpillars who used to be just like me.

I am the worm,

who wanted so despretely to fly,

but knew it could only happen in my dreams.

I am the worm who:

believed in myself;

kept myself company;

didn't listen to the nay sayers;

and

let their dreams grow wings  and take flight.

I am that worm.

I may not be a beautiful butterfly,

but I am who I should be.
