The World is a Mystery

The world is a mystery,

Forever unclear,

An insolvable puzzle for everyone here,

Trying to forget their own history.

The skies can be dark,

Everyone scrambles trying to learn their part,

Stuck trying to get their life to start,

Feeling like a fish swallowed by a shark.

Playing this game of life,

Sprinting through it as if in a race,

But falling, incapable of keeping up with its pace,

Forever being in strife.

Stumbling through the maze,

Thinking that there is no limit to time,

Ignoring the ringing of death’s bitter chime,

As valuable moments blur by in a haze.

Try and take the bull by the horn,

And find that people come and go,

Just like spring chases away the snow,

Too soon you are quick to find that hearts are easily torn.

Before you know it everything has changed,

Like everyone else you try to adjust,

But fall into sin’s hands and fall in love with lust,

And next thing you know you find yourself estranged.

Everyone has a past,

That so many try to hide,

One full of humiliation and shamed with pride,

As horrifying as the darkness that a shadow does cast.

So many struggle to find the light,

Depression makes even the strongest too weak to crawl,

Eventually they find their way to a building too tall,

Too many jump to the conclusion that no end is in sight.

The world is a mystery,

Forever unclear,

An insolvable puzzle for everyone here,

Trying to forget their own history.
