The World’s Only Living Defibrillator

You are many things.

But cold, grey, and metallic are not any of them.

Your hands give a shock like lightning.

But they haven’t electrocuted anyone, not yet.

When we first met, I was covered in barbed wire.

I soon learned that although it keeps the people out,

Metal is a great conductor for electricity.

And so you conducted yourself through me.

You short-circuited every working fuse in my body.

Passed over every trip wire.

Dodged every booby-trap.

Scaled every wall.

And sent a spark straight to my heart.

Jumpstarting a world of emotion,

And creating a 3 word mantra in my head,

That I swore should never be said.

But maybe it needed to be heard.

Unfortunately, having a heart may give you the ability to love,

But it doesn’t give you courage.

And what good does one do without the other?

So go ahead, try again.

Transmit life into me, the way you did before.

I know you may not be the Wizard of Oz,

But maybe, someday, somehow,

You’ll give me the courage to say what needs to be said.

To say that I love you.

More than you’ll ever know.
