Work

you demand from me

a small piece of me

each and every day.

once we were introduced,

I couldn't stop giving.

you are the center of my attention.

you are the sun that comes up in the morning:

big, bright, and beautiful.

you are the voice in my head saying:

keep going, be better, be perfect.

you are the dates on my calendar:

nothing but mundane,

ever-present lists,

that only serve to put pressure

on my shoulders.
