Wonder
Dear God,
I wonder.
Are you just a civil servant?
They say that you do as we pray
But then, of course
I serve you too
And I suppose there are rules I obey
Still, with all of this serving
We give just as much as we take
And our gifts are not love, only wanting
And beneath this need
We all break
And I wonder
What it is that we're giving
For all that I hope to believe
I've given everything and nothing
I wonder what you hope to receive
