" Without the Wound"
I wish that I had
written down
the writer's name
but I don't even remember
the publication-
only that I read this
while waiting in the lobby
of a doctor's office.
What had stayed with me
is the quote-
such a quote,
so amazing-
" Without the wound
there is no author."
I do recall that the writer
was Israeli.
And I wonder,
just what does it take
to be a writer?
Is it talent, eloquence,
the usual list?
I only know that
we all have a story to tell...
but I feel this quote is of essence-
for yes, the truth
always hits a nerve...
This poem is about:
Me
Our world
