Wild Woman

to the wild spirit woman of the carved and sacred desert,

move freely in your primal body glistening with moonrise

dance to the current of the boiling river as the dam collapses

sing to the Earth a song of your place amidst the animals

with head to sky and open chest absorbing sound and sun

awaken to the message living in the Scroll of Heart

held before you the oath to shout while grounded in soil

repeated to the heavens on the wings of sister Raven

from the roots of oak and pine to the shadow of the star

let these words of fire destroy the bonds of submission

in a great battle-cry proclaiming, oh wild spirit woman

that you shall not be tamed

and you shall free yourself in word
