Why Me?

Why did you did you have to pick me?

For in my hands I hold no key,

No specialty, no great grand gift,

A heavy burden no one can lift.

I'm not smart, or quick, or clever,

Not flashy and famous, not now, not ever.

There's nothing here,

For inside me no one can peer,

My doors are shut and locked,

The passage to my heart is blocked,

So why pick me?

For in my hands I hold no key,

But maybe I do hold a gift,

No one but me the burden can lift.

So if I can find the key,

Maybe inside me you will see,

Because now my heart's open,

All this time in sadness I've been.

I've lived in pure blackness, always night,

But today I've finally seen the light.

So now I know why you had to pick me,

Now I finally see.
