Who Knew

When we met my life grew full.
Collections of sorts
I pushed you pulled
We gathered feelings
To try them out
Who knew the worst would
Soon be about

My friends then yours
Your family old scores
My own now abandoned
My worth and value
Counted with dogs
Not allowed to travel now

I can do no right
In your sight
So narrow and hard
Vulgar and rude
No apologies to accept
Mean attitude
Not allowed to call anyone

My former collection
Was lovely and right
The gathering now hurts
As my mind fills with
The new fullness…
Bruises and broken promises
To many to count
Not allowed to go outside

Who knew the worst would
Soon be about
