Who I Am Because Of You

There were so many messed up days.

There were days I thought we wouldn't make it.

But to say that you weren't my sunlight and rays,

Well that would be a lie, wouldn't it?

To shattered bottles on the floor,

To the smell of the alcohol all over our doors,

To the moments where we would sit and scream,

You had to be the rock for me.

They say blood is so much thicker than water,

At the time I never beileved,

That such a sentence would resonate with me.

Isn't it funny how the roles have switched,

Who'd knew my younger brother would help his older sis?

We used to cry, scream, and fight,

Because we never knew if she'd come home at night,

We used to shout, beg and plead,

That mom wouldn't drink anymore,

Man we were messed up weren't we?

And now that that's all in the past,

After every shed tear, after every broken laugh,

Here's my proclomation to you little bro,

I never thought I'd say this at all.

I am who I am because of you,

When I was sad, you said "everything is going to be new",

I am who I am becuse of you,

Because when it was all said and done,

You always said there always would be me and you.

Me and you against this crazy, twisted world,

Who knew that we'd grow this close just because of our messed up little world.

When it was all said and done, and our broken house would fall apart and bend,

You'd say, "we're down nine, but we get up ten."
