Who I Am

Location

Parts of me,

Secrets,

Scream to be captured on paper,

To deserve even a smidgen of recognition,

But I can’t part with them,

I fear that others might see the true self I keep hidden,

And won’t like me,

Or worse,

Judge me,

And I hate being judged,

I must keep these secrets under locked and key,

Penned under an anonymous name,

An anonymous face,

The cages of reality shatter,

And I run free,

Carried through the ink of my soul,

And never solely captured,

The whispers of my being reflect onto other souls,

Other eyes and other ears,

Reminding me that I am not alone,

Reminding these others,

That they are not alone,

Poetry is my release,

It is my freedom,

It is my salvation,

It is who I am
