While Your Lips are Still Red

Location

While the iron's still hot and the stove is still lit,

while the birds still sing and the neighbors still fit,

while the sun is still sleeping and dawn's still a myth--

come sleep a bit longer with me.

While the days turn to cobwebs and the year turn to dust,

while the weeks turn to ashes and the months turn to rust,

while the hours turn to ticks and the blinks turn to tocks--

come sleep a bit longer with me.

While your vows are still truth and your ring can still shine,

while your love is still pure and your heart is still mine,

while your hands are still warm and your lips are still red--

come sleep a bit longer with me.
