Where Is My Family?

Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister,

Brother-in-law, Sister-in-law,

Where are they?

They're home. I'm gone.

Brother and SIL, in their house with a garden,

He's in graduate school, she's already finished.

Working full-time, helping kids.

Sister and BIL, in an apartment,

Taking care of their puppy,

He works with a great team, she flies in planes.

Mom and Dad, empty nesters,

He teaches middle-schoolers reading, science, and humanity.

She's back to her degree in computer science.

I'm here at college

Learning as much as I can

And missing them all

So much it's hard to stand.

But-

knowing they are there makes it easier for me.

Knowing that they are happy.
