Where I'm From

Sat, 08/10/2013 - 15:33 -- jowhe5

Location

I am from outside,

From playgrounds, trees and bikes

From kids playing in laughter

And smiles on faces so bright

I am from couches,

From computers, chairs and stairs

From the television we all sat in front of

From cups we continuously sipped and shared

I am from acorns,

From rabbits, squirrels and raccoons

From little anthills being covered

By the new growing in fungus, mushrooms

I am from pounded yam,

From rice, lasagna and gari

From fried chicken usually cooked at night

And sweet potato pie on thanksgiving

I am from Africa

From two Nigerians to be exact

From a family of 4 boys and 1 girl

And extended families in other places we left.
