Where I'm From

I am from a whispering sun

who persuades me to swim in salty seas.

I’m from a blasting bass,

dark fizzy beverages,

and even darker eyeliner I continue to avoid.

I’m from intense staring contests,

chasing invisible people,

soy sauce eating sushi

before I do,

and forests held still on a portion of a wall.

I am from literal sky reaching,

with tight muscles and pointed toes.

even when I’m not flipping on a roof top when I’m alone.

Me, a figure-eighted sky,

and clouds like minds waiting to be told.

I am from a hopeless jumping heart

from the sight of eyes like the core of the Earth.

I am from sleepless sleepovers,

with friends who are a life’s worth.

Yes, all you do need is love.

A sapphire ring comes from my finger,

because of my grandmother who I will not forget.

Until it is replaced with a white ring,

that one precious moment,

I will not regret.
