When the Sun Goes Down

I have trust issues
I can admit that
When I first meet someone
I like to figure out how they might
Hurt me, without warning
I don't like to waste time
Especially when it comes to relationships
Because it takes time and commitment
An investment that could yield
More valuable than what's valuable
But it could also could cause more pain
and grief than I'm willing to accept
I have trust issues,
Thick walls of concrete surround my heart,
no one gets in or out
Only the brave will attempt the challenge
The others will find it a waste of time
But the rules are forgotten in certain occasions
because I have met those
With a certain kind of fresh air
They excite me
no forced conversations
 light as spring air
Its amazing how I find people like that,
maybe its amazing how they find me
Its hard for me to trust
But once I like you,
I really like you and
I will be able to relax
But until then my guard is up
when the sun goes down
