When I Was Your Age

When I was your age …

By Hayley Milligan

When I was your age we were outside playing Baseball

Not Candy Crush trying to beat our high scores

When I was your age we would break up with girls in person

We would never text that it was over

When I was your age there was no Facetime

We made it a point to see eachother face to face

When I was your age and I became bored

I would grab a malt with my buddies

We didn’t resort to binge drinking

When I was your age when people went on vacation they would take quality pictures

In the world now, people can’t even live their lives without Posting selfies on Instagram

When I was your age I would listen to Frank Sinatra

Not rap crap Lil Wayne

When I was your age I would be punished on the spot

Not spoiled rotten without any reprimands

When I was your age I was learning how to Waltz with my wife

We would never twerk in the clubs, that was unclassy

When I was your age I would help my mom set the dinner table When she called me

I wasn’t playing videogames screaming “Shutup I’m busy”

Can you explain to me what Twitter is?

What happened to reading books, working hard, and being grateful?

Life is far too valuable

Do not waste it,

Fight for it
