What poetry has taught me is to be more creative
To write what I felt and to hear it sound right in the mind as well as out loud.
To broaden my mind and be imaginative,
rather than trying to sound sophisticated amongst the crowd
To express through writing my deepest concerns and emotions as art
And to organize my conflicted thoughts and prevent myself from having a turbulent heart
Poetry has taught me self-reflection and that it’s okay to make mistakes
It’s not just rhyme schemes or patterns, but growing as a person and knowing that you have what it takes.
