What motivates me?

Psalm 139:16

16 Your eyes saw me when I was inside the womb.
All the days ordained for me
were recorded in your scroll
before one of them came into existence.

There is no reason why ... not to give up for the easy

There is no reason why ... not to take that way out

There is no reason why ... not to live for my own pleasing

There is no reason why ... to live without a doubt

So what does motivate me? ... Who is at the helm?

Who steers this little ark ... to its final destination?

Life beyond control ... in the stormy seas

On the waves of fears ... that surge from degradation

The wind in my sails ... dragging me forward

Against my will ... some progress is made

Where for goodness sake ... is my true courage

To present myself alone ... in Him at Heaven’s gate

You seem to get the picture ... love for self is here

Fighting for existence ... in an “everlasting” battle.

I was not remade like that ... when the Lord came near

But remnants of The Fall ... are still here to meddle

Depravity has no good ... even dressed in a tuxedo

Death bones rattle day and night ... covered with attractive

No ray of light ... in the fleshy lifeless darkness

Where all things are for self ... and born defective

Sin is like a magnet ... catching souls of iron

Nothing can withstand it ... unless made of stainless

It is like a consuming fire ... burning all on the inside

as conscience wanders ... if possible towards aimless
