What I hope for Love to Be

It started as an interaction,

like a small rose seed getting sun.

I began to feel a strong attraction,

I knew something good had just begun.

Our roots grew deep into the ground;

unparalleled love in her I found.

It takes special care for a plant to bloom.

The more we spoke, the more we grew.

She woke me up from my enslaving tomb,

she opened my eyes and made me brand new.

We weren't perfect, as no one can be.

That's how our thorns began to grow where others could see.

But there is a diamond in the rough,

for without the thorns, there are no flowers.

We pushed ourselves past all of the tough,

and found something unexplainable; I sat and thought for hours.

I concluded that like a rose bush, good and evil we bore,

if I ever got her in the end, I wouldn’t ask for anything more.
