What Has Happened

Location

Wasn’t it just yesterday that we laughed, and sang and danced?

Wasn’t it just yesterday, dear brother, we ran around and pranced?

Wasn’t it just yesterday, that our first sister was born?

Wasn’t it just yesterday we moved to Grandma’s as our new home?

For all things happen, and all thing go,

But my need for the past wounds me so.

Time moves on, for time won’t wait.

For things have passed and I want them, too late.

Wasn’t it just yesterday, you drifted away with friends?

Wasn’t it just yesterday you left me, with no one to help me around the bend?

Wasn’t it just yesterday our second sister was born?

Wasn’t it just yesterday, we moved to a big house, in a small town all alone?

For all things happen, and all thing go,

But my need for the past wounds me so.

Time moves on, for time won’t wait.

For things have passed, and I want them, too late.

Wasn’t it just yesterday when sister four was born?

Wasn’t it just yesterday you chose school, and friends over home?

Wasn’t it just yesterday I looked out the window,

And longed to walk with the school- children like everybody else?

For all things happen, and all thing go,

But my need for the past wounds me so.

Time moves on, for time won’t wait,

For things have passed, and I want them, too late.

Wasn’t it just yesterday I felt lonely in my big house of five?

Wasn’t it just yesterday my only wish came alive?

Wasn’t just yesterday I started my walk away from freedom?

Wasn’t it just yesterday I made my way from my home?

For all things happen, and all thing go

But my need for the past wounds me so.

Time moves on, for time won’t wait.

For things have passed, and I want them, too late.

Wasn’t it just yesterday 6th and 7th grade quickly passed?

Wasn’t it just yesterday my heart was torn in two at last?

Wasn’t it just yesterday my friends, at my foolishness, laughed?

Wasn’t it just yesterday… or have I gone through a time-lapse?

For all things happen, and all thing go

But my need for the past wounds me so.

Time moves on, for time won’t wait.

For things have passed, and I want them, too late.
