What Frustrates Me?

What frustrates me?

What frustrates me is that 50% of our student population in the United States are non-white, yet we continue to try to teach them with teachers who are 80% white.

What frustrates me is that we expect our children to go to college in order to get a well paying job yet we continue to raise the price of higher education.

What frustrates me is that we distribute more funds to schools that are excelling rather than giving it to schools that are in need.

What frustrates me is that we sit back and watch as our children struggle academically.

What frustrates me is that we give our diverse student population an assessment test made by white males and expect them to meet the “standard.”

What frustrates me is that instead of trying to put forth an effort to make a connection with and help non-white students, we label them (ODD, ADHD, etc.), throw them out of the classroom, and yell at them.

What frustrates me is that we blame the student for his/her behavior when we should be blaming ourselves for not taking the time to get to know him/her, and for taking away their recess, gym, and art classes; which allow them to express themselves, get rid of excess energy, and allows them to wind down.

When will we open our eyes to these real issues in our educational system and start to make a difference in our world instead of sitting back and allowing all of this to happen?

This is what frustrates me.
