You see her happy

You see her laughing

You see her smiling

You see her engaging

You see her trying

But what you don’t see is a whole different story

You don’t see the girl who is struggling

You don’t see the girl who didn’t want to get out of bed for days

You don’t see the girl who is juggling her grades

You don’t see the girl who fought for days

You don’t see the girl who kept getting knocked down

You don’t see the girl who feels like she’s getting drowned

Because that girl is strong

That girl got help

That girl spoke up

That girl fought for what is right

That girl is bright

    That girl is not a victim

That girl is a survivor

That girl is here today because she wouldn’t give up

That girl is trying

That girl is doing her best

That girl can tell you it will all get better

I know this all because that girl is me

I know it’ll get better because look at me

Look at where I am today
