"We Have Shut Ourselves In."

Technology gave me security;

The internet made me feel

connected, not alone.

Yet, now,

without the constant stream of status’,

I’m on the outside looking in-

I am on my own.

Only now do I realize

how false a reality it was

to live as one of the drones.

So engrossed by trivial media,

We don’t see the destruction we’ve caused-

What we’ve lost-

Until we look up from our phones.
