We All Have a Story To Tell

I feel the pain from my head to the ground
But everywhere I look, I never hear a sound.
Not one person standing up for me
No one telling the bullies to let me be.
They have replaced my name with hateful jokes
Many nights I lay awake, crying until I choke.
I have forgotten what it feels like to smile
I’m accustomed not to kind people but to vile.
This is not how it should be at school
What has made so many so cruel?
I believe we all have a story to tell
We all have cracks like an old and rusty bell
But it takes special people to see the light in ourselves
And to help us to knock those bottles off the shelves.
It doesn’t matter who you love, what color your skin is, or where you live
It matters what you bring to this world to give
Each of us is our own
We all have a light that deserves to be shown
Love yourself and love others too
Stand together and fight for what is true.
