wax and feathers

you are the sun on my wings

the very thing that will cause me to fail

the heat of your smile melts the wax of my feathered wings

i am icarus you helios

though the wax burns as it trails down my skin i soak up the sun

feeling the warmth for my last minutes before the plunge

before the waters engulf me and reality kills my hopes once again

for as i flew i reached toward you hand outstreached toward the sun

your comforting warmth surounding me melting away the fear of falling until it is too late

i have fallen and there you stay continuing your path

lighting the way for all who need you

and i sink

the fool who dared to get too close
