Water

Location

I sat watching the snow,

freshly laid on the cold, soppy ground,

grass flattened like a callous on a toddler’s head,

shining and glistening white and yellow,

gazing at the snow and dead grass,

noticing more with every blink something had changed,

something about the snow and grass changed every time,

An eternity passed, the sun had changed position,

more snow fell and covered some of the grass,

and the day became empty, spent like a cartridge,

the day seemed to have wasted away,

it was then I realized that was what had changed,

Water,

My music blared out of the two speakers dangling,

the minor tonality broke the deafening silence,

noticing more with every note something had changed,

something about the notes and words changed every time,

An eternity passed, the sun had changed position,

more music came on and broke the silence yet again,

and the day filled to the brim, reinvigorated like a toddler after a nap,

the day seemed to have came back,

it was then I realized that was what had changed,

Music,

Water and Music seemed to share similarities,

they both change anything they touch
