Waking up

There comes an age,

in which you reach a stage,

where you have to turn the page,

and everything you knew -- turns to dust.

Love and trust,

is replaced by temptation and lust.

Where need becomes greed

and children smoke weed.

And that look in a child's eyes,

as the ones he loved shed their disguise,

and everything he believed in turned out a lie.

Where monsters in closets no longer hide,

but instead walk among us in the outside,

and slowly tear apart,

our once innocent heart...
