Waiting For The Storm

I live in a world of disaster

A world where you expect the worst

Because when they say it's too good to be true,

More often than not... it is

Although at the moment

Everything's great

Anticipation eats me alive

And my smile widens

In transition with bittersweet endings and new beginnings

As the scars fade, the blade becomes an old friend

Once dreaded nights turn into happiness

Then realization hits

Like a chain reaction

My smile falters and happiness shatters

Like broken pieces of fine china

Because I soon realize nothing lasts for long

You can't stay on top forever

All that goes up, must come down

I prepare myself

Because even in the best of times

I can be found waiting for the storm
