Vocal Tension

I’ve heard about you

How you linger and lurk

You latch onto your victims so heavily

Leaps of faith become walks

Walks into crawls

I’ve experienced you, I know you exist

Your small voice like a whisper

Becomes gradually louder when
I resist

Yes, I recognize you anywhere

Tugging away, going back and forth

Taking so much energy until

There is none left for me

I’ve known you too long

It took me a while to realize

I have the power to expose you

For every time you screamed NO

Every second you forced me to hesitate

I’m moving on without you

I ponder no longer , I’m taking my strike

I’ve found the best way to rid you from my life

Release that grip on me

Open the door, I shall SPEAK
