Valerie's Song

She runs playfully through my mind,
 hair & eyes ablaze,
 taunting, teasing,
 almost close enough to touch.
 I reach out to her
 & she dances away,
 laughing joyfully,
 making me smile
at the tear that escapes my eye.

She runs & twirls & plays,
 dancing to a song
that only she can hear -
 a melody of the mind
& I love her all the more for it.

 Silently in the moonlight,
she smile's her sad child's smile
sending a shiver down my spine.

Will she dance life's dance with me?
