Useless Information

Useless information repeatedly
drilled into our heads
Our future somehow
depends on the
solution to this linear equation
function of the semi colon
reaction of these two chemicals
Whether or not you can
memorize a chapter in a book
complete all those hundred assignments-
without a mental breakdown
You can ask me a question;
I’m always here to help
I don’t know, can I?
I’m sorry- may I?
But don’t ask me that question
because you’re supposed to know the answer
Why didn’t you think of that ahead of time?
You should’ve done this differently
You should’ve prepared
You should’ve studied
You should have
taught me something that
I can actually use
ten years down the road
when I don’t know how to
balance a check
pay a bill
apply for a job
raise a family
I suppose I’ll somehow have to use that
Useless information repeatedly
drilled into my head
