Untitled II

Thu, 03/23/2017 - 21:40 -- nl2018

drowning,
pulled under by
seaweed,
dragged down
to the depths of the ocean,
she floats
a seashell
the color
of purest ivory
she settles
unnoticed
on the bottom of the ocean

one night
after wild rides
and crazy parties
spinning, drinking
twirling, singing
running through high tide
lost in drunken lies
she begins to cry
because this isn't living
so she wants to die

she lays there
a pearl
of beauty
hidden,
not seen
even by the keenest eyes
she wonders if the day will come
when someone doesn't walk by

Crawling into the ocean,
she floats,
letting waves draw her in
feeling salt on her skin
water slowly filling her mouth
as she begins to drown

She's lonely
they tell her
she is rare
but she'd rather be known
than treasured from afar

barely breathing,
she can't see,
except
something white,
catches her eye,
illuminating light
her heart,
slowly fading into darkness
realizes
there's always another way out
