Unsuspected Visitor

Surging against the barrier

escaping into what it believed to be

a means of escape

when, in reality, it would never reach

the other side.

There was no way across

through, under, around

no turning point

no unsolid ground.

That wall was thick

there was no way

Yet slowly, the tables began to turn.

One day, there began to be a way.

What she thought to be herself

wasn't her at all.

People aren't static

we can redefine ourselves

And so she did.

Shifted the tectonic plates

that had been supports.

Then the wall began to crumble.

One day it simply was no more.

There she was

Left atop her heart

Wind rushing through her hair

With the world rushing in

to what used to be blocked off.

Only they didn't know

Because they really hadn't moved.

She was rushing out towards them.
