Unspoken

A thousand times they escape my lips

Throughout the passing of dusk and dawn

They slip by too fast sometimes

Leaving only cruel regret

I cannot measure the harm they caused

Nor the joy they brought as well

I don't know they weight they hold

On others in their passing

I do know well enough the violence they make

When kept too tightly clasped inside

You can find me holding the heavy weight

Of the many that were never to be

Pressing against my chest

Curling within my flesh

Sinking in my bones

Twising in my gut

And Festering

Never letting old wounds heal

As time is claimed to do

Spreading deeper than my heart can tell

Left with gapping holes

Started by paper cuts

Decomposing flesh

On a still living body

Left to slowly fester

Unspoken
