Unraveling

Empty rooms.
Pealing paint.
Weathered floorboards.
Voices...
Distant.
Faint.

Broken windows.
Open doors.
Mental prison.
Broken shelter.
Ravaged.
By the storm.

Voices...
Gather volume.
Just as the sky begins to crack.
Screaming.
Panic.
Anxiety attack.

Return it.
Back inside it shall go.
Thank the Almighty.
For the things they do not know.

Then lighting lit the earth.
The sky thundered.
The moon's glow concealed.
Overcast.
Heaven conquered.

Voices...
Just memories.
Louder they become.
Voices...
In my head.
Unravel me.
Undone.

Empty rooms.
Hollow sound.
Shadowed corridor.
Memory.
Found.

Alone inside.
Sitting on the floor.
Memories they flood me.
Too excruciating to ignore.

Block the voices!
Scream out in rage!
Grip the bars,
and rattle your cage!

Memories.
Hard to forget.
Sights. Sounds.
Feelings. Regrets.

Tears.
Of Laughter.
And of sorrow.
Crinkled eyes.
Look for the morrow.

The empty rooms.
The peeling paint.
The weathered floorboards.
All the voices...
so distant, so faint.

The broken windows.
The open doors.
Boarded up.
Closed.
Forevermore.

The storm is gone.
Moonbeams arrive.
Thank the Almighty.
For you are alive.

The empty rooms.
The hollow sound.
Memories.
Buried beneath the ground.

Alone outside.
Standing on the steps.
Never realizing.
How deep the depths.

Of your memories.
Of who you've become.
Because of the unraveling.
You had become undone.
