The United Stars

Welcome to a land where once you take your frist step,

don't expect to walk right away.

Welcome to a land where you are given the freedom of speech,

but don't expect to have the freedom to actually use it.

It is but a flip of a coin that determines one's fate in this land of green,

heads for middle-class wealth and tales for poverty.

I glance up at those white stars with confliction in my eyes,

and I wish I could believe what it is that they stand for.

Instead all I see are a list of questions,

that bare no answers.

Where is the freedom of speech when we are scorned for the words that leave our lips?

Where is the freedom of religion when we are being judged simply for the shade of a our skin?

Where is the right to bare arms when we are constantly pointing them

at each other, not for portection, but for personal gain?

When I look up at these stars I want these questions to be answered.

Now that I am older, I realized that it is not the stars that can answer these questions,

It is us.

It is up to us, the people of the United the States, the big, small, loud and quiet,

becuase there are no who are truly strong, and there are no who are truly weak.

When we look at those white stars those questions should no longer bare as a threat,

because we cannot give in to those who look to control and dominate.

We are the people of the United States, and we must stand as those white stars that are side by side, proudly,

now is the time, more than ever, that we stand united.
