Ungreen Leaf
Location
In my hands fell a solemn leaf.
It was not big, nor little, or green.
But it was something special and meaningful to me.
Looking down with perplexed relief.
As I knew from this leaf; I was not alone.
My heart was comforted by something unforeseen.
The grave leaf would never find itself home
On the tree of life; with its family.
Like me; lost and unseen.
Disregarded, cut off, but forcefully detached.
Its green had but withered away.
In an instance he was pushed away.
Then the leaf fell in my hands
Where he was not only comforted but welcomed.
And I will not shun this leaf because he is no longer green.
He is like me.
Disregarded, cut off, and unseen.
And his lack of green means nothing to me.
