Unanswered Questions of Light and Darkness

Does dark beget light, or light beget dark?

From whom lies the origin; whom is the spark?

The universe does not provide answers for me

Will it muddle you too, or shall it answer thee?

From the dark reaches of the mother’s womb

Or the depths of despair, like a shroud left entombed

Birthed a glimmer of light, and of life, a beginning

Compassion and hope for a life still worth living.

Though we bask in light of success, love, and joy

And drink in our fulfillment without hint of a ploy

Darkness still is born here, a small, hidden node

Of jealousy, hatred in others’ hearts bode.

Does the light break the dark like the rays of the sun?

Does the dark consume light, believed since time begun?

Which is the beginning and which is the end?

Which stands superior and which left to bend?

Is dark really evil? Is light really good?

Our belief matters not, both are misunderstood

Though darkness consumes, it offers a wall;

Though light helps discover, it will reveal all.

Why do humans desire the right and the light,

But bring about others to unending night?
