Two Inches Off the Ground

A sprout,

a new beginning from the ground.

You give me hope, little sprout

because you'll go to grow

so much higher than the mountains

simply because you can

and you will.

Trust me, one day, you will.

Don't mind that you're smaller than everyone

or that sometimes you get camouflaged with the ground

or that even when you holler, no one hears a sound,

keep trying!

The effort is what counts, right?

Why don't people understand that we're trying, little sprout?

It's hard enough surviving when you feel so small

and you're two inches off the ground...

How?

How can they hear us?

Will we ever make a sound?

Trust me, that's the dream, little sprout.

To contribute to the world and grow so tall that

all of the earth can hear us!

One day, they will hear us, little sprout

because if we are going to be worth anything in the future,

we are worth something now,

even if we feel two inches from the ground.

Little sprout, we are worth something now,

so keep trying, little sprout.

We are worth something now.
