The truth in her eyes

She heard me

When no one else did.

She heard my laughs

She heard my cries

She heard my heartbeat

She heard my lies

She had never even seen me

But she knew me on the inside

She had never even felt me

But I was the perfect place to hide

She finally saw the light

And then our eyes met

And in that moment of peace

I pressed reset

No more deception

No more secrecy

No more strangers

No more disappearing

No more numbing

No more waiting

No more running

Only creating

A life that she deserves

Completely opposite of mine

She won't make my mistakes

She won't sell herself short

She won't live with all the memories

That she'll want to abort

This is the life

That I've had to lead

It's the ugly truth

And it was a need

The truth behind my eyes can't change

I know who I am and what I've done

but the truth in her eyes

has only developmentally begun
