The Truth - An Original Poem By Evelynn Lammlin

The Truth

It hurts

It hurts worse than the worst pain you’ve ever felt

And people

They don’t get it

They tell you

“Just accept it, there’s no way to change it”

But they’ll understand

When the Truth Monster

Gets Them

And Beats them with his club

When he smacks them upside the head

Then they’ll get it

Yes,

When the Truth Monster comes

And runs them over with his truck

Then

Then they’ll understand

They’ll listen

But

The Truth Monster comes

At a different time

For Everyone

So who knows how long

Until he comes up

And whispers in their ear,

“The truth will kill you”

Maybe you can say

“I Told You So”
