The True Story of Aurora

You may have heard my story,

Or what was destined to me,

The truth holds more gore and glory,

This is how I came to be.

Once upon a time,

Cast away from my kingdom to live in the woods,

Raised by three fairies from daylight to nighttime,

Taught to be prim, proper, and always good.

A day spent to collect berries with my fuzzy friends,

The Prince gallops through on a mighty steed,

Time stands still and seems to end,

We waltz and sway as we glide over the reeds.

Experiencing bliss is great,

Being in love is pure,

The quarrel of my dress color wasn’t too great,

For the evil crow found my safe space for sure.

In search of his true betrothed,

Away I go to claim my kingdom,

The Prince is captured to be disposed,

Nothing prepared me for what I was to become.

Tranced in a cloud of green,

Anxious fairies try to stop the curse from completing,

The evil Maleficent will not expect what will happen to me,

For her curse caused our sudden meeting.

“Who do you think are!?” echoes off my tongue,

“You cannot defeat me child!” her cold slithers reply,

“Your curse has not gotten you far” I say to dodge from being flung,

“You will remember your wrongdoings in EXILE!” she screeches her fire in the night sky.

We fought each other with forces of magic,

For I am more than just an ordinary princess,

The force of Philip’s sword and my spell created a death so tragic,

One must die to allow the start of a bequest.

Maleficent may have cursed the start of my life,

I was unknowingly born with a magic touch,

Now living happy ever after as King Philip’s wife,

Possessing Maleficent’s full powers are getting a bit too much.
