True Identity

Location

Money. Status. Power. Prestige.

Four things I couldn't care less about.

My calling is more; more than a suit, tie and casual Fridays.

More than sitting behind a desk and answering phones.

I am searching for happiness, but aren't we all?

We don't go to school for sixteen plus years to waste it.

No, we do the tests, quizzes and countless hours of homework to reach our true destination: our career.

I have no intention of being a Wolf of Wall Street.

I have no desire to drill oil all day.

I want to make a difference. Change lives. Spread love.

My dream you ask. My dream is to teach math.

Teach kids that they have a meaning and purpose.

In all my years in the classroom I'm finally realizing that school is more than education.

It's identity and feeling valuable to the world.

Teachers fail to realize that they play this role.

But not me.

No. I crave to show kids that they do matter.

That their voice is heard.

And that they can cause change.

Education is fragile and time isn't going to stop.

We have to show kids that they're not ignorant, naive or useless.

A task that starts in the classroom.
